Nový preventivní projekt NCOZ.

Spojené království.png

The National Organized Crime Agency (NCOZ SKPV) is dealing with the cases of trafficking in human beings every year; the police statistics refer to 39 cases, which were registered in the Czech Republic for the year of 2024. Yet, an estimated real number is getting much higher.

Those who fall victims are most often persons confronted with a difficult life situation, homeless persons, the ones without family support, without a knowledge of a system and a language, illegal residents, single mothers, drugs addicted or persons relying on someone else. This criminal offence is being committed on both adults and children and may happen to everyone. The victims of trafficking in human beings can be working in our favorite bistro, massage salon, at a nearby building site or a factory.

Ask yourself a question/ask a question to yourself …

  • Am I doing a job and receiving money different from what I had been promised?
  • Am I working excessively for long hours and for a very little money?
  • Do I not know my real salary, because it is paid to me by some third person?
  • Does anyone else retain my documents?
  • Do I owe money to anyone for arranging employment and am I obliged to pay off my debt prior to receiving a higher salary?
  • Is anyone threatening me or my family? Am I afraid of anyone? Is anyone hurting me physically or psychically?

Did you answer YES to any of the above questions? You may have fallen victim to labour exploitation and you need help. We can advise or assist each one of you. Even though you do not speak Czech language.

What such a victim looks like?

  • He/she is quiet, scared, someone else often speaks for him/her in public,
  • Generally he/she does not carry his/her own documents with him/her, because they are retained by someone else,
  • He/she works for excessively long hours and lives in space-limited and overcrowded housing conditions,
  • He/she may or may not look neglected, tired and may have signs of violence (either openly or hidden under the clothes),
  • He/she is illiterate or not understanding the language, expresses fear for himself/herself or fear for family,
  • He/she has no employment contract, is unaware of an amount of his/her salary, or speaks of big debts, which shall be paid off first.
